Riding up and down the square

Here comes the equestrian statue....

The Black Prince, complete with feathered epaulettes, rides up and down City Square in Leeds. And weirdly, he is currently sharing the square with Giant Freddie, a statue of Freddie Mercury positioned outside the Queen's Hotel. The 14th century Black Prince and the 20th century showman made an odd conjunction that proved just too difficult to capture satisfactorily in a single image.

Anyway, the equestrian statue wih his feathered friends, brightened up a grey day - as the song said he would.

We were in Leeds for an internal meeting. Enough said. Leeds has some wonderful buildings as well as the statues, and they brightened up the day too.

VIEW LARGE. If you do, you will see this is actually in colour - just shows what a grey day it was.

This is a homage to Quirky Girl who beat me to it - what a bummer.
