Thursday 13 October 2011: Blown Over & Rained On
That rather neatly encapsulates today. Spent the day trying to follow "simple" instructions. Except they weren't simple and I had to know about the thing I didn't know. After 8 hours of that, I decided enough war genug and headed for home.
The Franfurt Book Fair is on at the moment. You need to get a train to Frankfurt Messe for that. My office is just beside Frankfurt Messe and so I got to share the S-Bahn to the HBf with about a hundred thousand people carrying all their goodies from the Book Fair. I was quite taken by one chap who asked me more than once "Are you sure this is direction to the Hauptbahnhof?" I would have loved to have assured him that no-he-was-right-and-all-my-attempts-to-lure-him-into-a-trap-had-been-thwarted-thanks-to-his-superior-sense-of-direction. But I didn't. I smiled, nodded, remembered what it was like when taking a train here was a real step into the unknown and hoped that he wasn't going to be looking for the Wiesbaden train.
Out to a friend's for dinner tonight. Looking forward to that a lot.
