The Pulpit

Apart from a touch of drizzle this morning it has actually been dry today, although mostly overcast. With the sea flat calm my sister, nephew and I set sail for some fishing off the Point to see if the big Pollock were still about. Unfortunately, after about half an hour of trawling and not a single bite, the wind suddenly got up and large waves appeared. Time to turn for home. We had an interesting motor across the bay before navigating our way into the river and onto the mooring.

The earlier than planned return meant there was plenty of time in the afternoon for a walk. Today's blip is taken at the east entrance to Carradale estate, which is no longer used by vehicles. As children growing up in Carradale and out for a walk, we would run ahead to see who could get to the top of the steps first. As my sister reminded me, whoever got to the top first would shout " I am the king of the castle and you are the dirty wee rascal". As our father was the local minister we would also imagine the stairs were the church pulpit and pretend to conduct a service from the top. Just as well none of his parishioners could see us!

That's what's great about my sister visiting, we get a chance to reminisce about childhood days living in a magical place.
