When I was a kid, at Christmas my dad used to get freebies from companies he used in his work. Mainly diaries which we used to fight over but sometimes a turkey and bottles of booze.
When I was shooting film professionally, the lab I used for processing would give customers useful gifts at Christmas: Timbuk2 bags, lightbox magnifiers, Leatherman knives, and if you did enough processing during the year, a side of smoked salmon.
The salmon is long gone, but the useful items remain in my day to day use. The company is now defunct.
