Tuesday 3 June 2008: @%$*!

Yesterday's incompetence was nothing compared to today's. I'm not even going to start telling you what happened, for fear of escalating my blood pressure back up to the dangerous levels they were at earlier.

Oh all right then, I will.

Our mortgage deal is up at the end of this month. As luck would have it, our current lender seemed to be offering just about the best fixed rate deal we could hope to get, and it was exclusive to existing customers. I called on Thursday last week to say I'd like to go ahead and move over to it. They said fine, but I'd have to wait at least 48hrs then call back, because they had to move my data over from the company who they bought me and my mortgage from (a year ago) before they'd even speak to me about it.

I called back today (less than 72 business hours after my original call) to find out that the rates went up this morning and they wouldn't honour the deal would have bought last week had their IT systems been up to date.

The Ombudsman takes 28 days to deal with cases. My mortgage runs out in 23.

In the meantime, I'll have to amuse myself with their blatant hypocrisy.

I'm just glad this cheeky little bundle of pleasure walked in to the office as I was ranting down the phone to a customer service IDIOT and made me realise that there are more important things in life.
