Friday 28 October 2011: Boo At The Zoo
Edinburgh Zoo's two Sun Bears, Somnang and Rotana, enjoyed a Halloween-themed feast in the sunshine. The two bears broke open a number of carved halloween pumpkins to get at the fruit, nuts and honey inside. Somnang briefly examined one of the bat coconuts the keepers had also provided. Apparently his brother Rotana knows how to break open a coconut by hitting it on the ground, so perhaps later on he will smash it open to get at the milk and flesh inside. For now, both sun bears were enjoying the easier pickings contained within the pumpkins.
