Summer skeletons ....

In our region, Hydrangeas abound over the summer season and especially over the festive season - hence the apt name: Christmas roses .... they appear to flourish in almost every garden, in a multitude of colours, and even just one flower in a vase, will equate to a bouquet of flowers .... they truly are beautiful.

But as winter approaches and the flowers die, only floral skeletons remain of the beauty that was once so evident, and these skeletal remains in itself poses interesting shapes and colours ....

Simultaneously the green leaves change colour: they turn to yellow and eventually a bright brownish, reddish rust, before they too die and become compost ... ready to feed and nurture the next generation ... eagerly awaited!
