It is this time of year so more than 1 bee shot is allowed, maybe even 3 or 4?
Specially considering to produce 1 kg of honey foraging bees visit 4.5 million flowers and fly about 195,000n km. So next time you scoop out a knife full of honey - think how many hundreds of flowers it took to produce that.
Really trying to nail the bee in flight shot, yes the one a few days back was flying, but parking yourself outside the hive makes it a bit easy, I want one visiting the flowers and not heavily cropped either.
This gal is working the avocado flowers. The trees spend about 6 weeks in flower, each one opening for a half day as a female then closing and opening the next day as a male. Talk about going both ways. The number of flowers on a single tree can be staggering. Like grains of sand on the beach. But the bees dont usually get enough nectar from them to make honey. You can see the nectaries at the base of the flower here , the yellow blops she's feeding from.
