Marjorie's ramblings

The homestead

It was a perfect day for walking today and I went north of Hadrian's Wall to check out the route for the walk I will lead on Wednesday. Today I walked uphill from Housesteads car park to the fort, then along Hadrian's Wall Trail west until the Pennine Way and cut north here.

I used open access land to walk close to Broomlee Lough (mega clarty here) and then up to Queens Crags and Kings Crags. I found the stone circle just east to Folly Lake.

This photo is of an old homestead (marked as such on the map) where the trees have taken over.

You rarely meet anyone else walking north of the Wall and the views are stunning in all directions. Just one blip allowed though.
