Wednesday 2 November 2011: Before

I got this bike, a 1983 Raleigh (USA) Super Course, in trade for another bike. To be honest, I liked the other one (a Schwinn Prelude) better, but I have admit it was too small for me and this one is more my size.

So after a year of trying to like this bike in its original form, I've decided to make some changes. Gone will be the downtown shifters; they will be replaced by bar-end shifters (Suntour Barcons). I will also go with a more modern, ergonomic drop bar with aero brake levers.

The new cockpit setup will be very similar to the drop bar conversion I did on my commuter hybrid, a configuration I am pretty pleased with.

While I'm at it, I may switch out the bottom bracket and cranks, and the wheels need a little truing.

I have to remember to put up an After picture.
