Wednesday 2 November 2011: Methow River
I was back over in Winthrop this to oversee the construction of out bank stabilization project. Thought it might be good to discuss the best bank stabilization measure which is mature vegetation. Roots from vegetation can add significant strength to channel banks (as is seen in the photo) and the plants or tree also slow flow velocities in the immediate area dramatically slowing channel migration and bank erosion. Case in point today's photo.
