The Life Of Ponty Cyclops

Here Be Faeries

Following a recommendation by a fellow blipper yesterday, Dawn and I went on a mini twitch for Dartford Warblers at the local National Trust heathland, of Dulwich Heath.

It was a stunning bit of coastline. The weather could have been a bit kinder. It was blowing a gale, but not too cold. We didn't see a lot of wildlife, and no dartford warblers, but the autumnal colours were fantastic.

We happened upon this crop of Fly Agaric mushrooms .. Proper fairytale mushrooms!

We went back to RSPB Minsmere this afternoon. If anything, even gloomier than yesterday. But we did have one wow moment! Towards sunset, the starlings started gathering to roost, and numbers quickly reached 10,000 plus birds. As we were walking up the path back to the visitor centre a number broke away and flew right over us. It felt like you were right in amongst them. Breathtaking!

Homeward bound tomorrow!
