Tuesday 8 November 2011: Drayton Manor
I've helped on many school trips - and enjoyed a lot of them. Even a whole day (including 6 hrs on a coach) trekking up the Great Orme in Llandudno didn't bother me, but today wasn't so much fun.
The conditions weren't great for a Yr 3 day at the zoo. Fine, misty rain and chilly air. Drayton Manor is only a 20 minute walk from school, but we spent five hours outside with the animals - shiver, shiver!
I'm covered in sticky honey too, after helping kids fill a pumpkin with banana, oats and honey to feed to the lemurs.
I'm full of admiration for teachers. I couldn't do it. I really like some of the kids, but have to hide my extreme irritation with others. A lot of them are incapable of listening, which frustrates me...and don't get me started on the germy little devils wanting to touch you and hold your hand - yuck, get off! OCD moments aplenty! Four hours without a cup of tea too - outrageous ;)
I thought I'd get an easy blip, but didn't have much time, as I had eight kids to keep track of. I zoomed in on this ugly thing while the zookeeper was talking to them. Then I noticed my group were all spelling it 'ostrij' in their report books, so thought I'd better put the camera down and concentrate...
