Jarvisness

Don't bang the drum

The Jarvis finds that good music is like beer - we tend to lose interest when things get overly technical and complex. And much in the same way as a Jarvis would never consider drinking Humulus lupulus resin on its own, the drums are a backing instrument best deployed in concert with guitar and bass. While there is no doubting the prodigious talent of noted jazz and rock drummer Rodney Holmes, it was almost enough to put a Jarv off his beer when his Tama drum clinic got under way on the small stage in Cafe Fiasco. Drum clinics are for music shops or separate music venues, not for bars open to the general drinking public. Having said that, it is occasionally nice to be reminded of how big a part restraint plays in the playing of Charlie Watts.
