A time for everything

Wednesday
Beautiful weather today - not as hot as it has been and low humidity, but unfortunately its not going to last - tomorrow will be hotter and more humid. I got out for a walk first thing, then spent the day catching up on laundry and ironing and housework.

Laura cut the grass this morning, "fighting off" the cicadas. (See my entry for June 3rd). There are so many around at present, and they seem to have no sense of direction - they fly straight into you, or drop onto you from the trees. A couple of times I heard this squeal and she came rushing into the house, asking me to check if she had any on her! But give her her due, she went back out and finished it! They make so much noise in the afternoon in particular, you almost have to shout at each other if you're outside, to be heard above them!

Today was Roger's birthday and so this evening we went out to eat - at Cafe Istanbul at Newport on the Levee, across the Ohio River in Kentucky. This shot was taken after dinner, looking across the river toward Cincinnati.
