Sunday 13 November 2011: Big hands...

625/365: ... stupid expression. And because Maddy laughed when she saw this photo of herself, it's today's blip.

(there's a logic in there somewhere!)

Another family day today. Did a bit of a cooking session so that we can have lazy dinners for the rest of the week - cooked a veggie bolognaise, some roast veggies, made a couple of pies etc. Then, off to the shops to get a few extra bits and bobs. And for some reason, my card got declined. Aaaargh! And when I'd had to do the walk of shame to park my trolley while I rang the bank, the bank guy helpfully went 'oh, I can't see any reason why that's happened', and took 10 minutes out of my life while he faffed around only to go, 'oh, it should work now'.

Well, thank you very much Mr Representative of the Bank. All the while, Felix was very patiently sitting and waiting, holding a little Matchbox car I was buying him and occasionally going 'are they going to make me put it back?'. Gah!

Anyhoo, this afternoon was better than the supermarket (eating your own toes is also better than the supermarket, but let's not quibble). I tidied the garden, assisted by Maddy... sorted out the veggie patch, dug up some Jerusalem Artichokes and the last of my parsnips... then Maddy got some sprouts - which I hate but had only planted because Felix wanted them. As it got dark, we went back indoors and I boshed together a Sunday roast and an apple crumble for pud for us all. Miraculously Maddy ate the Jerusalem Artichokes (had done a kind of gratin thing with them) and the sprouts! Even I ate the sprouts... and I hate sprouts! The leftover peas, carrots, roast spuds and parsnips got soup-ified...

... and that was the weekend done.

PS Though I think I've managed to break myself by all the gardening this afternoon!
PPS Plus, the cold I've had for the past couple of days is worsening nicely. Hurumph!
PPPS Still... YAY FOR WEEKENDS!!
