Tuesday 15 November 2011: Putrajaya

Putrajaya is the Federal Administrative Capital of Malaysia - a planned city on a massive site 25 km from Kuala Lumpur which, 15 years ago, was a palm oil plantation.

It is remarkable and will shortly have a university as well thanks to a deal signed here today which leases a site by the beautiful lake, next to the Conference centre , to Heriot Watt University. It will be their second international campus - the First Minister opened their new facility in Dubai only a fortnight ago.

This view of the city shows the central boulevard and, at the end, the Prime Minister's office.
