Monday 16 June 2008: Scratchorama
I drove through to Glasgow today to let the Canon Repair Centre take a look at this and this.
The official prognosis was 'These lenses have been cleaned. You must have scratched them when you cleaned them.' Pictured is Bella's impression of my reaction.
I explained that I have an incurable addiction to lenses considerably more valuable than the ones in front of him, all of which I've managed to look after for many years without inflicting so much as a smudge. I think he warmed to me slightly after my rational reasoning, but he still wasn't willing to 'put his neck on the line' and make any judgement either way.
So back to Canon they go. I'll need to fight it out with them.
Costs so far:
Insurance excess on G9 #1: £125
Return trip to Glasgow: £20
Postage to Canon HQ: £10
Pah.
At least Bella got to shout at the exhibits in Kelvingrove Museum all afternoon.
