what's the opposite of a bullet train?

whatever it is, that's what the journey between new york and chicago was - yes, it's an overnight trip. and yes, expect delays. but 12 hours late? jeez. thanks to a tornado, damaged tracks and a small derailment, we spent about nine hours travelling 80-odd miles... !!!! i ran out of book (good job there were people to talk to), the cafe almost ran out of food and the loos ran out of water (that was an uncomfortable last hour or so before we could top up and flush out, as t'were). still, we got there in the end, and all i lost was a day's sightseeing (grr). i've not been so glad to see a shower and a comfy bed in a long time!
