This was a real battle, to get the men to finish the school before we returned home. The battle raged for five weeks, we we refused to budge on contributing more than the cement and the roof.
They wanted money for timber to burn the bricks, we said NO,
They wanted us to pay the bricklayers and we said No, No,
They wanted us to pay for transport of river sand and guess what, no again.
We threatened to return home and complete in March and wow did it work!!
The metal sheets went on, on Thursday and it's nearly complete now.
We have learned the hard way, and now they have real ownership of their school, AND They will look after it.
It's not only the best way, it's the only way.
Casca will bring materials and visit for training once a week, for the local women trainers. The school will be excellent, and Adult Education training will start soon.
