Friday 20 June 2008: Stone Wonder
It didn't take long for me to succumb and revisit the bridge.
These stone piers were build between 1883 and 1890 as part of the Forth Bridge. To me they are a wonder of engineering from a forgotten age, in many ways as impressive as the more famous metalwork.
You may notice that this photo isn't quite straight on. I can't put my finger on why, but I chose it over the straight ones as I find it more pleasing. I hope the slightly off-true angle won't offend the eyes of others.
