Tuesday 29 November 2011: The Fullness of Summer
Spotted a little snake in the garden today - it seems to be a Red Lip or Herald, as it is commonly known.
Judging from the markings on his body and the form and color of the head, (he would only allow us a very quick peep), his real name seems to be: Crotaphopeltis hotamboeia.
Not poisonous; yet, I prefer to watch from a distance.
Since I am not knowledgeable about these creatures, I rather kept a safe distance.
Back inside, I called our local branch of nature conservation - I expect somebody to come over and hopefully he will still be (???) where he was last seen - hiding under a rock.
Our gardens have seen the first abundance of flowers for this summer, soon new blossoms, blooms and flowers will appear that will go for the second length ...
