Abbey Days

Dotty's lads chasing about in about-to-close Kelso Abbey. We went there after trying to get into the just-closed Art Gallery and before going to the also-closed Floors Castle. We ended up in the newly-opened Sainsburys.

We treated ourselves to a cracking lunch at The Cobbles before meeting the lads at school. Then I cooked things from Hugh Frightfully-Posh's vegetarian book, called (you'll never guess) "River Cottage Veg". It's very good actually, and the Warm Salad of Mushrooms and Roasted Squash with the Sweet Potato and Peanut Gratin went very well with the Inveralmond Brewery Ossian. Just one each though, since we are crushingly hung over from yesterday's buckets of wine, heroically procured at great personal risk by bicycle at 9.59pm from the elusive Co-Op. Dead grown-up.

Back to work for me tomorrow, a nice short week which ends in further quaffing with other Blippers. Bleeping bleep!

EDIT: I meant to add, I was sorry to read today that all (yes, all) of the Borders Youth Hostels are to close. Kirk Yetholm, Melrose and Broadmeadow. What a great shame.
