aura

driving from bend back to portland today i noticed this aura around the sun.
can anyone explain this?
it looks similar to a halo i saw around the moon during christmas. (i seem to recall a lot of people blipping that as well...)
however, i thought that one was due to cold weather. it certainly wasn't cold today...
