Thursday 1 December 2011: Near Far, Wherever you are
When I met Si, he was coach class on the boat. He was working his passage from Rosyth to Portland. I joined the ship, first class, with my fiancée as we made our way from Edinburgh to London to join the ship heading to New York!
My fiancé was a bit of cad! I was a great catch, daddy had loads of money and left it to me. Si caught my eye one evening as he drunk a beer aft ship and I was having a pee overboard having drunk far too much at the captains table!
I wandered over to him and scadged a slurp of his beer! we stood and chatted and he did this mad mental thing where he dangled me over the front of the boat and told me I was flying! I told him he was drunk and we laughed a lot!
Then did the bloody boat not go and hit an ice Berg!
Me and Si clung on to each other as the boat tipped over. We grabbed a deck chair and as the boat slipped under the water we sailed off into the sunset. That bam that I had been engaged to tried to clamber on board the deck chair, but I whapped him with my handbag and he sunk into the murky depths of the forth.
And the rest, as they say, is history!
