Full Moon Emerging Artist

Well, the past two days have been horrendously stressful, but it was well worth it. Jacob was nominated as Kentuck's Full Moon Emerging Artist and therefore got to show his work in a gallery for a whole month. The opening was tonight and it went really well (save for the rather odd "Aid's Day Observance" ceremony thingy going on in the back of the gallery). Getting to this point though was tough, especially for Jacob, but I'm proud of how well he powered through it all.

His show featured 3 linocuts, 3 litho prints, 1 ink-wash and 1 mixed media piece. The stone he's working on in the picture was one of the largest in the studio. It's so heavy that he had to haul it on a lift when transferring it between the table and the press and back.

He started drawing on this stone at about 8am yesterday morning and got it printed and matted by at least 8:30am this morning. He also matted four other pieces, and I matted three last night. It was a rush, and both of us are running off of barely any sleep, and Jacob had to deal with the fun business of hanging everything, which I can't even imagine the nightmare, because one of the pieces of glass that was going over one painting broke just as he was picking it up to place it in the mount.

But it was all worth it, the pieces looked amazing, and he sold some with the promise of some even bigger buys. I'm super proud of all the work he's done.
