Saturday 3 December 2011: Switching on the Christmas lights - Dunoon
The Christmas lights in Dunooon (and Rothesay) were being switched on this evening. I went to Dunoon where the weather was awful - as can be seen from the sea of umbrellas. In fact, driving back along Glen Lean, there was torrential hail, sleet and snow which eventually was lying on the road.
But the weather didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd outside the Burgh Hall , nor the commitment and talent of the young people who performed including the Gaelic choir from Sandbank Primary, where Cathleen is Head Teacher.
And nothing can diminish the excitement of seeing the tree suddenly lit up - an excitement felt by young and old (including me and no doubt where I now fit on that spectrum ).
