Tuesday 6 December 2011: Bee on a gaillardia flower

This was the only bit of sun today, brightening up the yard. The bee was feeling the cold I think too. It's cooled right down again and is grey and damp.

Gaillardia is called the Blanket flower, because it is a native of North and South America and the colours are like the bright colours on a Native American blanket. Gaillard was a French botanist.

I love bright colours in the garden, I know lots of people don't but we get grey days and it brightens everything up.
