Wednesday 7 December 2011: Eat Your Fractals!
I have a new toy: a turntable that digitizes old records! Well, okay, limited appeal, but I'm having a great time listening to old stuff and importing it all to ITunes. And since we're going for a narrow audience, what I'm really enjoying is my mother's old Polish polka records and Christmas carols. Absolutely transported to the Red Hall on Rapalus Street, sliding on the sawdusted shiny floors and twirling to the wedding sounds of clarinet and accordion in my patent leather shoes and white socks. The truth is, I never learned to polka, but this music is in my bones after all. What a sweet surprise.
