The Phoenix Rises

Loch Laggan in the wars.

Our journey north during the worst storm for a few years probably wasn't the best of ideas, but as I had messed up the last break away by being a malingerer.
We were going.

We had decided to wait and see what the weather was going to do, but by all accounts, if we didn't go early, we wouldn't get at all.

Setting off with flask (of hot water), a packed lunch, snow shovel, winter tyres and 1 careful driver, we had a very quiet journey northwards, with hardly any traffic. the wind did get up a bit and branches became a bit of a nuicance on the road.

As we got to Loch Laggan, we noticed a police Landrover was parked so Ally slowed to see if they were stopping traffic, but no, they were taking pictures of the waves on the loch

We came to a halt north of Spean Bridge for about 20 minutes due to a fallen tree and the team that were working on it, made short shift of it and allowed us to eat our lunch and have a cuppa. The next delay was only a few minutes for the second tree a mile or so further on.

We arrived to the glen in darkness and it stayed dark , well the electricity didn't come back on for another 14 hours. The sky was actually very light, which was due to the full moon.

We were very glad to get here.

Back blipped in the light and warmth of the 21century delights. I don't think I liked going back in time. The 2 duvets we had on last night to keeps us warm said it all.

Have gone soft in my old age?.........no, I always was.
