Thursday 26 June 2008: Ancient, Obselete and New

Crows. Of all the birds, these are the ones that feel most reptilian to me, and thus most ancient. They seem to thrive in a modern world though.

Chimneys for houses that once burnt local Fife coal. Now most are unused, obselete. New houses have no chimney. They are a dying breed, their transient reign on the skyline coming to an end.

Satellite dish. The modern way of receiving television. The current roofline rash.

What will our rooflines look like in 10 years, or 100, or even 500? What vital adornments will replace chimneys and satellite dishes? Will there still be crows to watch over them?
