Wednesday 14 December 2011: QRD indeed

This is the inside of the dome of our new music building, which has featured many times in my blip diary. But what's spectacular about this is the inside of the dome, shown here, which features a 'quadratic residue diffuser'. What this means is that every panel in this roof sits at a different angle, to make the best use of the acoustic space and cut down on extraneous sound and echoes. Couple this with a fine view to the other domes of these beautiful buildings, and our spectacular clock tower, and you have a wonderful rehearsal and performance room.
