Thursday 15 December 2011: Last Rehearsal
Just in from the last of our Carol Concerts, with the Clic Sargent Lothian Hospitals choir in the Usher Hall.
This year the guest performers were the absolutely superb clarinettist Emma Johnson and the choir of the Mary Erskine and Stewart's Melville Junior School, over 100 of them, who sang (and behaved) beautifully. Once again Thistle Brass accompanied all the community carols and entertained with a Christmas medley.
The blip is of our conductor, Tim Dean, discussing details with the organist, David Goodenough, as seen from my seat in the organ gallery, just before this afternoon's rehearsal.
This was Tim's fifth and last concert with Clic; we were delighted to learn that next year we'll be under the baton of Neil Houston, who supervised our weekly practices.
