Thursday 15 December 2011: the day over
It's still safest to play this rather than a steel-strung guitar as the wingpiglet still seems keen on trying to shove his hand through the strings to see if there's anything interesting in the soundhole. All practising must necessarily be done whilst he's awake in case it wakes him up and it's definitely much less easy to pick things up than it was back in the days when I could just sit pausing and rewinding things until I could play along to entire albums. At the moment I'm trying to train myself out of adopting a stereotypically ukuleleic strumming pattern for Life on Mars, which I never learnt on guitar when I was small.
After squawking himself awake at half eleven last night Edgar mostly slept most of the night in an electron-like position ostensibly in the middle of the bed but ranging from anywhere from knee level to somewhere between our heads, mostly with his feet towards Nicky, most specificially towards her face, more specifically still occasionally kicking her in the face as he shuffled about. He was mostly awake again by half five and downstairs eating breakfast by six, with the result that he was looking quite knackered at around half seven this evening, probably not helped by conjunctivitis which we suspected earlier in the week and which the nursery admitted to having cases of yesterday evening when he was collected. Some eyedrops have been administered but it was much easier this morning than in the evening when he was starting to get tired-grouchy as well as puffy-gummy-eyed grouchy. Despite a couple of squeaks already tonight I ought to still have time to reconnect a brake cable and align some calipers sufficiently to get sparebike rolling again in case the frost hangs around overnight.
