Sunday 18 December 2011: The Crannog
This island in the middle of frozen Loch Kinord is the remains of a Crannog - a man-made island originally built on stilts c. 2500 yrs ago at the end of the Iron Age. It would have housed up to 20 people and provided a comparatively safe home with ready source of fish and wildfowl to feed on.
The ice was only about an inch thick - definitely not to be tested - and Dylan was kept on a lead in case he ventured out onto it!
