Monday 19 December 2011: No waiting
661/365: ... unless you want to get soaked, of course.
What a rotten day for weather. Grey. Wet. Dark. Cold. Absolutely miserable.
And so many meetings that there was scarcely time to breathe. It was three o'clock in the afternoon by the time I had chance to stop and by then I was feeling pretty ropey. I've got another bout of tonsillitis. Ear ache last night, swollen glands, a cracking sore throat and a temperature which means that I'm alternating between hot and shivery. Only four days left and then I'm on leave. Am SO looking forward to it!
Tomorrow is even more meeting packed because I need to squeeze everything in so that I can leave by 3pm to get to see the children's Christmas Festival and a play that Maddy's in. Rush, rush, rush! I know people stress about Christmas and getting ready for it - but it pales into insignificance against the normal chaos of being a working parent!
Anyway, must stop being a grump. Am actually in a fairly good mood - it's just this tonsillitis is making me feel dizzy and grot. At least Felix is feeling better (and about to make a card for a little girl he loves in his class!). And Maddy's just about to read me some stories she's written which will make everything right.
PS Taking a picture of a wet road is scraping the barrel, right? But this is typical weather for December really
PPS Had the realisation today that our children think that all Christmasses are snowy as their memory is of the last three years where that's been the case
PPPS Feel like saying to them 'when I were a lass it were always grey and miserable... you don't know you're born' in a Northern accent... :o)
