Let There Be Light

The Chicago El

I drove to Denver, Colorado in 2009 with my 11 year old son. On the return trip we travelled old Route 66 in Illinois, stopping many times for pictures. Route 66 is the most fascinating mother road, filled with quirky historic stores, buildings and three giants!

I took this shot of an elevated train as we entered Chicago on the weekend of their 29th annual Taste of Chicago Food Festival. Forget about trying to park anywhere; over a million people showed up for the festivities. We stayed long enough to doublepark across from the Cub's Stadium then drove along Lake Michigan from the origin point of Route 66 on Lake Shore Drive.

Hello Oprah! I know you're here somewhere, as is Second City Theater, but we can't stay. New Jersey needs us to come home....
