New Floor

A bit of a holding blip as DD and I settle into our home for the month of January in Belem in the north of Brazil. We had a successful packing yesterday and an on-time departure this morning from a storm swept Rio but what could have been a 3 hour 15 minute flight due north was extended by a 3 hour connection in Brasilia.

Still the one hour backward clock change restored something of the feel of a late afternoon arrival, and we were kindly collected by the director of DD's school and taken to our hotel.

The only downside at the moment is that only one of our iPhones is connecting to one of the four wifi channels (mine) and only in the reception area. Both laptops are functioning fine with wifi in our room, where DD is doing some work prep.

It's an atmospheric place with incredible stone floors throughout (see photo!) and I've found a corner of the reception in which to sit, blip, have a beer, see our fellow guests come and go (not many as there are only 19 rooms), 'breath water' (as the locals say about the high humidity in the city), and begin to relax.

Let's see what tomorrow brings...hopefully DD's ability to blip (and back blip) through her iPhone!
