Friday 30 December 2011: The importance of being...
672/365: ... earnest
Especially when you're in mid sentence with your mummy and you manage to include the phrase...
'... and Daddy said that when it's my birthday I can have a puppy...'
It is important to do the following:
1. Look earnest
2. Open your eyes as wide as they'll go
3. Put your head slightly to one side
4. Use *that* tone of voice
5. Hope that none of the facts you're using to sway your argument get checked.
However, double-checking with Daddy turned up the interesting fact that no, this wasn't said and no, he isn't having one. The race to Felix's 6th birthday is intensifying and I have to admit the whole 'get me a puppy' thing was a new angle on me. Well done, son. Nice work!
The highlight of my day has been making a veggie Shepherd's Pie. And that was about it really. Nick's hung a picture. Felix has manage to thwack Maddy in the mouth. Maddy's mimsying about singing. They've watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang... and Maddy's been scared at the child catcher (naturally). It's rained.
A nothingy kinda day.
Perfect.
PS We nearly went into town to go to the Nottingham Contemporary
PPS I don't think 'nearly' counts as something I've done today, somehow.
