Sunday 1 January 2012: Steaming Ahead into 2012... 1938 Mallard
Here we are 2012!
Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and a very BIG thank you for all the good wishes :-)
Carrying on with the Railways Theme (Honestly I'm not a trainspotter!) Darlington is steeped in railway history and I do love historical facts and researching... Every days a school day... and today was no exception. See I thought the above sculpture was a different model and in fact it's a "Mallard".
The Brick Train is a place I visit often, as it has a raised platform to view the scultpure from above and the views are spectacular a previous blip was taken from here. It was designed by an artist called David Mach and was opened to the public for viewing on the 23rd June 1997 by Lord Palumbo of Walbrook. The Brick Train is a full size structure and 185,000 bricks were used. In addition, there are even 20 special 'bat' bricks built in at various places to encourage the nocturnal creatures to use it as their home. Local schools also donated 'time capsules' which were put inside the train.
I take many a moment to come and sit and ponder and just lose myself in deep thoughts... I also pass The Brick Train everytime I go for a run...
Wishing you all the very best wishes for 2012 and full steam ahead with BLIPPING!
