Kinda Horrigans

Sunday 1 January 2012: Twisted fire starter...

674/365: ... well, not quite. But Felix was getting very excited when Nick burnt a load of waste wood in the garden incinerator and stood there waving around a piece of wood to waft the smoke. And had *that* look on his face. Eeeek!

Oh, and it's colour popped because Nick decided that it should be. Doesn't seem a terribly hopeful start for my photographic year if I'm already colour popping stuff, does it!

Anyhoo - a nice start to the year. Family day and nothing particularly special... but a reminder of how nice it is to spend time together. Did a bit of gardening (spreading horse muck on the veggie patch - how glam!). After that, went to the DIY shop to get some seed potatoes / seeds / new gardening gloves while the children ran around and hid and were generally rubbish. They were *those* kids. Oh dear... the shame!!

After we'd slinked out of the store, hoping no-one had noticed too much, we went to get a few more bags of poop (yeah, our day really was glamorous!)... we went home... had lunch... did a spot more gardening. Nick lit a fire, Felix got excited... they all stank of smoke... and then the heavens opened. So, now the washing machine is whizzing through their smoke-scented, mud-splattered clobber... the Christmas tree is coming down this evening... and the day is trundling to another close.

Am making a baked polenta thing for dinner. And fully expecting the children to reject it wholesale.

PS Anyone want to place a bet as to how long it takes them to say it's horrible?
PPS Am thinking it's odds on...
