Monday 2 January 2012: Mini adventures...
675/365: ... every day should have one, don't you think?
Whether it's riding up and down the bumps at the local BMX track or... oh... I don't know... just doing something a little bit different. That's the stuff that makes your toes tingle, isn't it? It didn't make the local competitive dad's toes tingle though. He was yelling at his 3 year old son all the way around. 'POWER, POWER, POWER, Crispin!!! POWER!!!' he yelled in a bid to get his small child to get himself up hills which were beyond his little legs' ability. 'POWER!!!! POWER THROUGH! POWER!!!!!'. Eeep! Most cringe-making!
Anyhoo, funny thing is, while Felix was busy having his mini adventure, Maddy Moo was busy having a meltdown. Which was a shame considering she'd been up for going for a walk, got herself ready, made a 'telespoc' out of an old cardboard tube and everything. Whilst Felix had refused to get dressed, get his socks on or do his teeth. Then, we we were out - it all went wrong. First, her bike wouldn't go. Then, it was too stiff. Then, it was too muddy. Then, too cold. Then, it was just ALL WRONG. So, if this image had a sound track it would be of Maddy making a kind of muh-uh-uh moany noise.
Aaargh!
Ah well, there's always balance, isn't there?
It would be nice if they could simultaneously have a good day though!
Other stuff - I've given Felix's hair a trim (had to bribe him with a bit of telly - which, seeing as they rarely watch any is a proper bribe in our house!)... he helped me make dinner, picking sprouts from the garden, peeling spuds and carrots etc, and dropping peas all over the floor (the last bit was less helpful!)... Maddy and Nick roasted chestnuts on the fire and then Maddy positioned herself on a cushion in front of it and toasted herself while reading for the next hour or so.
PS Am just being dragged off to have a bath with Felix
PPS He doesn't like having a bath on his own and Maddy's already been in.
PPPS Am trying to resist but it's a losing battle... he... has... my... arm... in... a... vice... like... grip...
