An Unglazed Expression

As everyone knows, it was blowing a hoolie this morning, with news reports of trees blown over, major traffic problems and damage to buildings with gusts over 100mph. Even the weather station at JCMB (King's Buildings) had to extend the scale on the windspeed graph to 24m/s.

Around 0930 Miss Flum and I were at the window watching the birdfeeders swinging wildly in the wind when there was a sudden crash and we saw shards of glass over the back path. The glass in the attic rooflight had been sucked out by the wind and thrown to the ground.

Miss Flum braved the gale to take this photo of the rooflight. She then picked up all the glass she could find before it blew around.

Fortunately Mr Flum was able to cover the gap with polythene sheeting to keep out the rain and we have a glazier coming tomorrow to replace it.
