Home!

Set off again from Farnborough (see yesterday's blip if you missed chapter 1); got to King's Cross just in time to hear the 10.00 train being announced. The website had said no trains from Edinburgh to Dundee & Aberdeen till about 1700 because of a fallen tree at Markinch - this wasn't mentioned on the announcements. Anyway, if it got us to Edinburgh we'd find a way home, maybe via Stirling.
The train was full but we got seats. From Newcastle on, it was like an Indian train with people hanging out the doors and clinging to the outside. Announcement at Darlington said it would go to Dundee & Aberdeen but not by the usual Fife route because of 60 (!) fallen trees at Markinch.
Announcement at Waverley said it would go through Fife after all. It did involve a bit of pushing past branches and we got into Dundee 42 minutes late, but no complaints about that. We're home.
Got a taxi back from the station - the driver said there hadn't been much wind damage in Dundee but we'd find a trampoline in the garden. We'll find out in the morning.
Maybe you'd better not ask about the hedgehog.
