Wednesday 4 January 2012: New Boots
I was back at work today, which was a relief in some ways.
In one way, because a huge window (and frame) has blown in on the top landing (well above our office), which, added to the cracked drainpipe which has been pouring water into the stairwell for weeks, means my home seems positively idyllic in comparison.
In another way, at least I was out of the house. We still have not been visited by the 'emergency' repairs people, it's tomorrow at the earliest. The wind has got back up and it's lashing with rain. But our neighbours' insurance are a bit more laid-back (or overwhelmed) and let them call out a builder to make the chimney safe. So we have broken tiles still but the builder thought the felt underneath looked ok.
I went out at lunchtime to see if I could get the part for my broken record deck, which I couldn't, and then I stepped in a huge puddle. My boots started absorbing water like sponges.
So I snapped and bought some new DMs. I've been thinking about it for ages and I got some Christmas money from my daddy, so I went in one of those fashion shoe boutiques and just bought some. I coud undoubtedly have got them cheaper elsewhere but nevermind. I'm fed up of having wet feet.
I can confirm they are the real deal, as I now have a big blister on my heel and matching bruises on the back of my calves.
Despite yesterday morning's events, I didn't feel the need for new panties.
