Anticipating my final MA course!

"Anticipating the Alien" is my swan song for my MA in Science and Technology Studies. First class was today and we got to know each other and discussed where what we'd like to explore. Topics agreed upon include exobiology, exoplanetology, instrument of exploration, one-way human exploration, space business, space policy, colonization issues & ethics, habitable environments on other planets and moons, contact protocols currently in place (yes, there are such protocols), and sociological and theological issues and problems should life (living or fossil, microbial or larger) be found elsewhere than Earth. Lots of other fascinating stuff.

Much work will be done on my MacBook - my trusty workhorse - a gift from my late mother.

My scholarly explorations would not be nearly possible without the support of my lovely wife Linda who is featured as my wallpaper. She's walking the beach at Cabot's Landfall, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia - a wonderful vacation we took in the summer of 2009.
