Friday 6 January 2012: Gang forward!

For my walk this morning I thought I would return to The Lodge beside one of the gateways to Pollok Country Park. A bit of hunting tells me that the Lodge is a single storey cottage in Scots renaissance style that was designed by Sir Robert Rowan Anderson and was completed in 1892. The lodge has the Maxwell Family motto "I am ready, gang forward" and the date 1892 in Roman numerals (MDCCCXCII) around the side of the building. I blipped the first bit of the inscription a few weeks ago, which can be viewed here:

I walk past this most days and have been really curious as to what this meant - so this particular mystery has been solved. However, I am now wondering what kind of people the Maxwell's were...
