Friday 6 January 2012: Stars Of Copenhagen
......and here's the legacy of one of them; Bertel Thorvaldsen.
Bertel Thorvaldsen's museum was built ten years after the great man's triumphant return after his twelve month visit to Rome that had lasted forty years (.....for research - apparently). In the background you can see parliament, as recognisable to Danes as Big Ben. I love the uneven windows here, built from 1838-1844 it shows a remarkable sense of humour to me.
Really - look at the frames.
