'Wedjat'

Took a stroll along the river bed today, as the Nile is at it's lowest.

Felucca's and motorboats moored along the shore line, children cleaning the decks whilst listening to their music. Shells lay scattered along the crispy bed that has baked in the winter sun.

Waves gently roll in as boats sail by, the sound of clicking camera's from tourists on a trip up the river to Banana Island.

This is the eye of Horus (Wedjat) has been used since Pharoanic times as a powerful symbol of protection. Many boats have them painted on to ensure safety on the river. People also use the eye in their homes, some wear jewelry with the eye detail.

(I didn't see the wriggly worm creature on the eye as I took the photo!)
