Because that's what he is. He greeted me this morning on a different perch, he sang so beautifully when he saw me, then led me to his usual breakfast table - the bench!

Yes to the question if he has a significant other... he does, they're usually together in the ivy above the bench, & always always chasing the dunnocks through the branches, I swear it's some kind of fun game, the dunnocks don't think so though! Larry often sings to her too, he sticks his breast out, stands on tippy toes & shrills his notes out into the air & in her direction. She just sits there! :)
